Compressed wood – night logs – 1/2 pallet weighing 480 kg each
Properties & Specifications
The compressed wood comes in a handy small size for people who don’t have much storage space or who use it sparingly.
These long-burning logs are very practical towards the end of a fire; place them on a bed of embers and close the air intake on your appliance.
They last between 6 and 8 hours and ensure peace of mind whilst you’re away or overnight.
They have a very low moisture content of less than 7 per cent and a high calorific value of 4.9 kWh/kg.
Virtually plastic-free: the logs are only strapped to avoid excessive packaging.
By using these logs, you help to keep your fireplace clean, as miscanthus dries out the soot.
Miscanthus in brief: ‘elephant grass’, ‘Eulalie’ or ‘Chinese silver grass’ is a perennial herbaceous plant from the grass family, native to Africa and South Asia. Native to marshes, slopes and hillsides, it is a hardy plant that is resistant to both disease and rodent infestation.
Its stalks, which are harvested at the end of winter, contain less than 17 per cent moisture, meaning they can be used as fuel without any drying time.
Information on storage and use
- Storage in a dry place: Once the pallet has been delivered, store it in a place that is sheltered from the rain and well-ventilated (e.g. a carport, shed or under a canopy).
- Air circulation: Avoid direct contact with damp soil and leave a gap of at least 5–10 cm between the plant and the house wall.
- How to cheer properly: Use dry kindling and eco-friendly firelighters. Light the fire from the top down (low-emission lighting method).
- Soot-free combustion: Thanks to its low moisture content, the wood burns cleanly, leaves hardly any ash and is gentle on your chimney.
